About me

My name is Henrike Mathea Habermann. I am a Heilpraktikerin and Osteopath. I graduated from the German School of Osteopathic Medicine in Schlangenbad, Germany. Following this, I successfully passed the Heilpraktiker exam. Since 2015, I have been operating my own practice in Meerbusch Osterath. In 2023, I closed the Meerbusch practice and relocated to Straelen.

Understanding Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic system founded on individualized patient care. The techniques used in osteopathic diagnosis and treatment aim to correct mechanical imbalances within and between various structures of the body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, vessels, organs, and fascia. This system acknowledges that the body’s self-regulation depends on various factors, encompassing environmental conditions, nutrition, and various internal and external elements. The osteopath’s goal is to activate the patient’s innate self-regulatory capacities.

Osteopathy is a manual therapy, in which the Osteopath exclusively employs their hands for examination and treatment to restore the body’s necessary mobility. The body is viewed as a unified, holistic functioning mechanism, implying that the source of pain can often be traced to an entirely different part of the body.

Osteopathy was established over a century ago by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917). The principles of Osteopathic treatment were introduced to Europe through A. T. Still’s students, who established schools across the continent.
